  1. Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa)- Punarnava, also known as Varshabhu in Sanskrit, and Thazhuthama or Lal punarnava in vernacular languages is a herb that belongs to the Rasayana category, and is known to be an immunomodulator, rejuvenator, and metabolism enhancer. It provides strength to the pelvic organs. It has been used as a home remedy for gynecological conditions like irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), abortion, infertility, and anemia. Phytochemical and pharmacological studies have revealed its anti-proliferative activity that could reduce the risk of breast cancer. It bolsters immunity by forming new white blood corpuscles in the blood. This herb is a potent antioxidant that helps to flush out toxic free radicals from the body. Besides gynecological disorders, Punarnava is widely used in the management of asthma, oedema, nephrological disorders, inflammatory conditions, and jaundice.
  2. Vilwa(Aegle marmelos)- Vilwa, also known by the Sanskrit names Shiva druma and Tripatra is the most praised herb since the Vedic period. Other than the sacredness, the Vilwa fruit also has remarkable medicinal properties and is often considered a pacifier of vata and Kapha whereas the Vilwa root balances all three doshas. It promotes metabolism and especially benefits the digestive system by increasing the appetite, relieving dysentery, reducing the pain caused by ulcers, and managing gastritis due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Powdered ripe fruit is a laxative and therefore is used in treating constipation. Vilwa is proven to be beneficial in gynaecological disorders like leucorrhea, irregular menses, and vaginal hemorrhages.
  3. Kulattha(Dolichos biflorus)- kulattha or horse gram basically is a Kapha-vata mitigator. It is sharp and pungent and is mostly used in renal disorders like kidney stones, difficulty in micturition and pain in the urinary bladder, etc. It promotes menstrual health by inducing bleeding and is used in the management of amenorrhea (absence of menstruation) and oligomenorrhea (scanty bleeding).
  4. Eranda(Ricinus communis)– Vernacularly known as Avanakku, Castor is a wonderful herb that is highly beneficial in relieving the conditions of vata origin like pain, constipation, and neurological disorders. For the pain caused by menstruation, muscle cramps, low backache, and abdominal discomforts, castor is the remedy. It is a strong laxative and helps relieve constipation.  Though this plant has high medicinal value, Ricin, a chemical found in the castor seeds, is toxic. But the plant parts are completely purified and employed judiciously in the medicinal formulations and are safe to consume.
  5. Sahachara(Barleria prionitis)– Sahachara or Karim Kurinji is a commonly used pain reliever and vata alleviator in Ayurveda. It contains terpenoids, tannins, and different flavonoids, and shows anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic properties. The essence of sahachara has been used as a stomach tonic for centuries. The leaf juice has anti-acne properties and can be used to prevent pimples associated with menses. It soothes intestinal movements and cures intestinal abscesses. It can also be employed in relieving cramps and joint pain.
  6. Sunthi(Zingiber officinale)– Ginger, our pal from the kitchen is known for its gastroprotective functions. Besides being a mere flavoring agent, it is potent medicine for many woes. Our grandmothers have been using it for centuries as a cure for stomach troubles including nausea, morning sickness, loss of appetite, gas trouble, abdominal pain, and constipation. Since it has a vata alleviating action, it is used in managing menstrual pain and bloating.
  7. Agnimantha(Premna integrifolia)- Agni means fire and Agnimantha or Arani was once used to make fire by rubbing its stick. As the name suggests, it kindles the digestive fire too. It balances vata and Kapha and shows strong anti-inflammatory activities that help alleviate digestive or reproductive tract inflammations. Agnimantha extract clears the intestines and relieves hard stools. It improves blood flow and is useful in managing anemia.

Take 15 ml twice daily diluted with 60 ml boiled and cooled water before food or as directed by the physician.
